Manitoba Selects is the trailblazer for football in Manitoba, proudly standing as the province’s only international football team and representing Canada on the global stage. Founded by former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Kito Poblah, the program has revolutionized the football landscape in Manitoba since its launch in 2011. Originally established as Finish First Football, a training initiative designed to sharpen young athletes’ skills, Kito’s vision quickly evolved into something much bigger—transforming how Manitoban athletes approach the game.

Kito, a Canadian athlete who earned a full scholarship to Central Michigan University, understood firsthand the power of proper training and exposure. Recognizing the limited scouting opportunities in Manitoba, he made it his mission to create a platform where young athletes could showcase their talent beyond the local scene. In 2014, Manitoba Selects was born—an elite travel football team aimed at giving athletes the high-level competition they needed during the high school offseason. This marked a turning point in Manitoba football, as athletes were now competing internationally and gaining unparalleled exposure.

Kito didn’t just start a team—he changed the game. Manitoba Selects has become a pipeline for athletes securing college scholarships, with many continuing their football careers across North America. By introducing innovative systems like Miami’s reclassification process, Kito extended athletes’ high school careers and maximized their development. Under his leadership, the program has clinched major victories, including becoming North American Youth Champions, solidifying its place as a powerhouse in football.

Kito’s forward-thinking approach didn’t stop there. Seeing the potential for earlier development, he shifted focus to younger athletes, crafting a holistic developmental system that combines elite coaching, rigorous training, and competition. His introduction of a new program for athletes aged 8-14 pushed the boundaries of youth football development in Manitoba, ensuring that young players are not only prepared for tackle football but also develop speed, agility, and football IQ from a young age. This approach has equipped Manitoba athletes with a competitive edge rarely seen in the region.
